UCF Softball Head Coach Renee Luers-Gillispie has hired former Texas Asst Coach Corrie Hill to the staff.
“Our coaching staff gains so much with the addition of Corrie,” Gillispie said in UCF Press Release. “She adds tremendous experience after having helped lead Texas to two Women’s College World Series and has worked with some extremely talented players. We are excited to welcome her to the UCF family.”
Hill spent the past 11 seasons as the Assistant Softball Coach at Texas, helping the team to 11 consecutive post-season appearances including two Women’s College World Series appearances (2006,2013). Hill coached 14 NFCA All-Americans, and over 40 NFCA All-Region selections including Megan Willis.
“I like to believe Coach Hill and I had a great relationship while she was at Texas. Willis said exclusively to In The Circle.”She became more of a mentor and even more… A friend to me.”
Willis played for Hill in 2006 and 2007 at Texas and had her best 2 seasons hitting at Texas under Hill. In her senior season, Willis she enjoyed her best offensive season hitting a career-high .293 for the season. Willis ranked third on the squad in batting average, while ranking second in hits (49) and doubles (10)that year.
“She was the first coach who was able to truly explain hitting to me and used verbiage I was able to understand. I also learned a lot about having an approach or a game plan when it came to hitting. I only wished I had all 4 years with her!”
” She an Awesome Coach and an even better person.” Nadia Tayler who played for Hill at Texas (2010-2013) and is currently in the NPF with the Dallas Charge told In The Circle. Taylor is one of a handful hitters that Hill coached who ended up playing in the NPF joining Mandy Ogle , Taylor Thom, Brejae Washington , and Willis.
